Meaning: stop talking , so that you don't say something you don't want others to know.  It can be issued as an order to someone else.
How to use in a sentence: When the police arrested the man and they read him his rights he clammed up and wouldn't say anything else. When his partner started to talk the man told him to clam up and zip his lip.
